Figure Assembler
Multi-Panel Figure Assembly at Journal Dimensions
Combine charts, images, and panels into a single publication-ready figure. FigureGuild's Figure Assembler applies Nature, Cell, and Science column widths, auto-labels panels A–Z, and exports at journal-required DPI.
Open Figure Assembler →Why figure assembly matters
Individual charts can be excellent while the assembled figure fails journal standards. The most common production-stage rejection reasons: wrong figure width, inconsistent panel spacing, missing or incorrectly styled panel labels (A, B, C), and mismatched fonts across panels.
FigureGuild's Figure Assembler enforces correctness automatically. Select your journal and every dimension, spacing, and typography rule is applied — you arrange the panels; the assembler handles the standards.

What the Figure Assembler does
- ◆Journal-exact dimensions — Canvas width set to your journal's single-column or full-width specification in mm, not pixels.
- ◆Automatic panel labels — A, B, C labels placed at top-left of each panel in bold Arial at the correct size for print.
- ◆Consistent spacing — Uniform 2–4 mm gaps between panels, snapped to a grid.
- ◆Panel import — Import charts from FigureGuild's Graph Builder directly, or upload external images (TIFF, PNG, PDF).
- ◆Mixed panel types — Combine FigureGuild charts with microscopy images, gel images, or diagrams in the same figure.
- ◆Export at journal DPI — TIFF at 300, 600, or 1200 DPI; PDF for vector-safe export.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload my own images into the assembler?
Yes. Upload any TIFF, PNG, or PDF panel alongside FigureGuild charts. The assembler treats all panels equally — place, resize, and label any combination.
What is the correct spacing between panels?
Nature and Cell recommend 2–4 mm between panels. FigureGuild defaults to 3 mm and snaps to a grid for consistency. You can set a custom gap.
Can I change the panel label font?
Panel labels follow the journal standard (bold Arial/Helvetica) by default. You can change size and weight if your journal requires something different.
How is this different from assembling in PowerPoint?
PowerPoint does not reliably produce the resolution (300–1200 DPI at print dimensions) journals require. FigureGuild sets physical dimensions in mm from the start, exports as TIFF at your required DPI, and maintains vector-quality text throughout.
