Privacy Policy

FigureGuild ("we", "us", "our") provides a scientific figure platform that helps researchers build plots, assemble multi-panel figures, and generate graphical abstracts. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
FigureGuild is operated by Ram, a sole proprietor based in India. For any privacy question, contact hello@figureguild.com.
The short version
- ◆We collect the minimum we need to run the service: your account info, the data and figures you create, and basic usage information.
- ◆We do not sell your data. We do not use your research data to train AI models.
- ◆Your figures and datasets are private to your account and are not shared with other users.
- ◆To generate charts and abstracts, some content is processed by trusted third-party AI providers (see “AI processing” below).
- ◆You can export or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and name via our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email) — we do not receive your Google password.
Content you create. The data you paste or upload, the charts and figures you build, multi-panel layouts, graphical abstracts, and any titles, labels, or captions you add. This is your content; it belongs to you.
Usage information. Basic analytics about how the service is used — pages visited, features used, errors encountered — so we can fix bugs and improve the product. We use privacy-respecting analytics and aim to minimize what we collect.
Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Dodo Payments (acting as Merchant of Record). We do not store your full card number — Dodo handles that. We retain records of your plan, billing status, and transaction history.
Technical data. IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically for security, rate-limiting, and to keep the service running.
How we use your data
- –To provide the service: store your figures, run the chart builder, compute statistics, and generate graphical abstracts.
- –To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- –To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- –To improve the product, fix bugs, and understand which features are useful.
- –To communicate with you about your account, important changes, or support requests.
- –To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse.
AI processing — please read this
FigureGuild's principle is AI-assisted, not AI-automated.
Statistics are computed locally by our own code, never by an AI model. The AI never invents, alters, or fabricates your numbers.
To understand how your pasted data is structured and to generate graphical abstracts, some content is sent to trusted third-party AI providers — currently Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini) — for processing. We send these providers only what is needed for the task.
We do not use your data to train our own models, and we instruct our AI providers not to train on your data where their terms allow. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy terms.
If you do not want specific data processed by a third-party AI, do not paste it into AI-powered features (structure detection, Abstract Studio).
How your data is stored and protected
Your content is stored in a secure database (PostgreSQL) and is isolated per account — other users cannot access your figures or datasets.
We use authentication, access controls, and encryption in transit (HTTPS) to protect your data.
No method of storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- –Access the personal data we hold about you.
- –Correct inaccurate data.
- –Delete your account and associated data.
- –Export your data.
- –Object to or restrict certain processing.
You can export your figures from within the app, and delete your account at any time from account settings or by emailing hello@figureguild.com. When you delete your account, we delete your content within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records for legal or accounting reasons (e.g. transaction history).
If you are in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023, including access, correction, and erasure of your personal data, and the right to grievance redressal — contact us at hello@figureguild.com. If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases for processing are: performing our contract with you (to provide the service), your consent (for optional analytics), and our legitimate interests (security, improvement). If you are in California or other regions with privacy laws, you have the rights described above and we do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your content within 30 days. We may retain anonymized, aggregated usage data, and limited records required for legal or tax purposes.
Children
FigureGuild is intended for researchers and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. India's DPDP Act treats anyone under 18 as a child and requires verifiable parental consent — since FigureGuild targets researchers, we do not knowingly allow under-18 accounts.
International users
We operate from India and may process data in other countries where our service providers operate (for example, AI processing by Anthropic and Google, and payment processing by Paddle). By using FigureGuild, you understand your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, with appropriate safeguards where required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (e.g. by email or an in-app notice) and update the "Last updated" date.

Terms of Service & Refund Policy

These Terms govern your use of FigureGuild ("the Service"), operated by Ram, a sole proprietor based in India ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1.The Service
FigureGuild provides tools to create scientific figures, including a Graph Builder (statistical charts from your data), a Figure Assembler (multi-panel figure layouts), and Abstract Studio (AI-assisted graphical abstracts). The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
2.Your account
- –You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
- –You are responsible for activity under your account.
- –You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract.
- –One person or entity per account unless we agree otherwise.
3.Your content and ownership
- –You own the data you upload and the figures you create. We do not claim ownership of your content.
- –You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you (including sending it to AI providers for processing as described in the Privacy Policy above).
- –You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any data you upload, and that your use complies with your institution's policies and any applicable research or ethics rules.
- –We do not use your content to train AI models.
4.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- –Upload data you don't have the right to use, or that violates others' privacy or confidentiality (e.g. identifiable patient data without proper authorization).
- –Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to produce misleading or fraudulent figures.
- –Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data.
- –Resell or redistribute the Service without our permission.
- –Abuse AI features (e.g. automated bulk requests beyond your plan's limits).
5.Scientific accuracy and your responsibility
FigureGuild is a tool to help you visualize and present your data. You are responsible for the accuracy, interpretation, and integrity of your figures and the underlying data.
Statistics are computed by our software; while we work to ensure correctness, you must verify that statistical tests, values, and figures are appropriate and correct for your research before relying on or publishing them.
AI-generated graphical abstracts are illustrative and may contain errors or inaccuracies; review and verify them before use.
We are not responsible for decisions, submissions, or publications based on output from the Service. The Service does not constitute scientific, statistical, or professional advice.
6.Plans, credits, and payment
We offer Free, Starter, and Pro plans with the features and limits described on our pricing page.
Paid plans are billed monthly via Dodo Payments (acting as Merchant of Record). Prices are in USD and may exclude taxes (such as GST), which may be added based on your location.
Credits are consumed by certain actions (e.g. AI generation) as described on the pricing page. Credit allowances, rollover, and limits are subject to your plan.
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: We offer refunds within 14 days of purchase if you are unsatisfied. As Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments handles billing and may apply its own refund process. For billing questions, email billing@figureguild.com.
We may change prices or plan features with reasonable notice; changes won't affect your current billing period.
7.Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We'll give reasonable notice of material changes where we can.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
8.Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or for legal or security reasons.
On termination, your content is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy above.
9.Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, research outcomes, or publication consequences arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.
10.Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy above, which explains how we handle your data.
11.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify you and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
12.Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be subject to the courts of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India.
